Antinous: The statue of Antinous had been erected on a marble pedestal, in the interior of a chamber built of bricks near the temple of Apollo. The exceptionally beautiful youth is depicted standing in heroic nudity, supporting his weight on his left leg, while titling the head to the left arm. The face with the idealized features reflects a deep sorrow while, in the rich curls of his hair, holes are visible into which a metal laurel wreath was fixed. It is dated to AD 131/2.
